That’s fine, just be aware that if you are on a Mental Health treatment plan, you can only access ten sessions per year from all
allied health providers.
I will often work with other practitioners just on your fear of flying, and then you can return to your referring practitioner to use any remaining sessions for the calendar year.
I always say a great psychologist is one who knows the boundaries of their competence (it’s actually an ethical obligation) and refers you appropriately for specialist treatment. Many psychologists work often with anxiety, yet also realise fear of flying and other anxieties are best treated with exposure based methods. They are happy to refer to clinical psychologists like me for whom this is our expertise, especially when it comes to aviation.
